Project description
The 416 m² Velten house combines light-coloured brick facing with a grey hipped roof. Lower covered areas complement the main two-storey volume, so the silhouette gradually steps down towards the courtyard. Large windows and simple cornice lines help maintain a restrained scale despite the building's substantial floor area.
The wall structure uses aerated concrete, while the facade is finished in clay brick. The light shade of the facing makes large surfaces appear less heavy. The brick pattern connects the house's floors and wings, while dark window frames provide contrast without extra decorative surrounds.
The asphalt shingle roof unites the main volume and adjoining roofs with a consistent surface pattern. Asphalt shingles suit combinations of roof slopes of different lengths and maintain a consistent appearance across a complex roof. A strip foundation forms the base, and the floors are cast-in-place reinforced concrete.
The house has five bedrooms and two bathrooms; it also includes a sauna, garage, carport and terrace. The design has substantial utility and recreational areas. Several separate bedrooms provide individual private spaces, while covered outdoor areas bring the entrance, parking and relaxation on the plot into one setting for daily life.
