Project description
In the 499 m² Mikhaylov house, brick and clay roof tiles establish a consistent architectural character. The warm wall colour is repeated in the roof shades, while projecting slopes and gables create a complex silhouette. The open lawn makes the deep eaves, chimney and covered entrance particularly prominent.
Brick is used both in the wall structure and in the facade finish. For such a large two-storey house, this creates a distinctive material foundation: the masonry is clearly visible close up, while its colour and texture unite the building's different parts from a distance. A strip foundation and cast-in-place reinforced concrete floors complete the masonry structure.
Clay roof tiles suit this architecture because of their natural texture and clearly visible individual elements. Across several roof slopes, its pattern becomes part of the exterior appearance rather than merely a technical finish to the house. As the light changes, the roof surface takes on different shades while maintaining its connection to the brick facades.
The two storeys accommodate five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a study. This accommodation combines family life and work, with dedicated rooms for each. The generous floor area is expressed through room size and the ability to separate private life, entertaining and work within one home, rather than through extensive exterior decoration.
